How I Can Help

You might be reading this because something in your life feels difficult right now. Perhaps you’re navigating a challenging experience, or finding certain relationships — whether with family, friends, or colleagues — confusing or painful. You may be feeling anxious, low, stuck, or as though you don’t quite fit in or feel fully understood.

Whatever has brought you here, counselling offers a chance to pause and reflect — a space where your thoughts, feelings, and experiences can be explored safely, confidentially, and without judgment.

What is Psychodynamic Counselling?

Psychodynamic counselling is based on the idea that our earliest relationships and life experiences shape how we see ourselves and relate to others in the present. These patterns often operate beneath the surface, influencing how we feel, behave, and respond — sometimes without us fully realising it.

In counselling, we work together to gently bring some of these unconscious patterns into awareness. This might involve exploring your thoughts, feelings, memories, and relational experiences to better understand long-standing difficulties and deepen your sense of self.

Counselling doesn’t have to focus only on pain or problems. It can also be a space to reflect on the strategies we’ve developed to cope — the patterns, defences, and ‘masks’ we sometimes wear — and to consider whether they still serve us.

Is This Way of Working Right for Me?

Psychodynamic counselling may be particularly supportive if:

  • You find yourself stuck in the same patterns in relationships

  • You struggle with low self-esteem or a harsh inner critic

  • You experience emotions that feel confusing, overwhelming, or hard to manage

  • You’ve had painful or complex early life experiences

  • You’re looking for lasting emotional insight and personal growth

This way of working is not about quick fixes. Instead, it offers space for reflection and the possibility of real change over time.
